Samsung is trying to capture the eyes of future smartphone consumers with it’s latest Galaxy flagship handset. The Samsung Galaxy S6 was announced at MWC 2015 and is a good looking device that also packs excellent specifications.
Samsung’s Galaxy S6 receives a 9.5 rating out of 10 based on the LaserPost Review Guidelines. The Galaxy S6 comes with good looks and excellent performance, but lacks support for expandable storage and also features a camera hump on the rear. Samsung has build a solid flagship smartphone with the Galaxy S6.
Samsung has taken away the plastic found on older Galaxy S models. Now the company is using Gorilla Glass. The smartphone has a physical home button which is flanked by two touch sensitive buttons.
The front of the device features the home button, back button, and recent apps button. Under the home button is an improved fingerprint scanner. The front of the device also comes with a 5.1 inch QHD display which provides an amazing viewing experience.
The rear of the Galaxy S6 is no longer removable which means the user no longer has access to the battery of the smartphone. The back of the Galaxy S6 features a 16 megapixel rear facing camera that comes with OIS. The handset’s camera does have a hump around it which may concern some users.
The cameras on the Galaxy S6 provide good image and video quality. The rear facing camera has 16 megapixels and OIS which help it capture good results while in use. The front facing camera has 5 megapixels and is good for those who like to take selfies or make video calls.
Samsung packs the Galaxy S6 with 3GB of RAM, Exynos 7 series processor, and a 2550mAh battery. There are options for internal storage starting at 32GB and ending at 128GB. There isn’t support for a microSD card which might be a problem for some. The internals of the handset create a very smooth user experience.
The Galaxy S6 comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop at launch with Samsung’s TouchWiz software. TouchWiz has been bloated with Samsung apps in the past, but now most of the bloatware is gone. The software experience is very smooth and does not have any lag. Samsung has added the option to change the theme of the software allowing users to change the way some parts of user interface.
Many think that Samsung’s latest flagship is a copy of the Apple iPhone 6 due to the placement of the speakrs, headphone jack, and miscroUSB port. The Galaxy S6 may look like Apple’s iPhone 6, but is different when digging deep into the device. The Galaxy S6 has different software and runs Android instead of iOs. The rear facing camera on the Galaxy S6 is in the middle while the iPhone 6’s camera is on a corner. Samsung and Apple both used premium matterials for their flagship devices. The Galaxy S6 might be similar to the iPhone 6, but both devices do have some key differences.
Samsung has finally announced a smartphone that looks as good as it performs. The Galaxy S6 is a premium handset on the inside and outside. Expect excellent performance from a device that has good looks when using the Samsung Galaxy S6.
