Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Review: Power With An Edge

Samsung revealed the Galaxy Note Edge at the 2014 IFA tradeshow. The Galaxy Note Edge is a device that is very familiar to most individuals who keep up with Samsung’s Galaxy Note line up, but one new addition to this smartphone makes a bit of a difference. The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge should appeal to most consumers.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note Edge receives a 9.5 out of 10 rating based on the LaserPost Network Review Guidelines for having a great display, camera, and innovative edge over the competition.

Samsung placed a 5.6 inch Quad-HD display onto the Galaxy Note Edge. The Galaxy Note Edge features a very impressive display which creates a very good viewing experience. The display has one curve or edge on the right side of the device. The edge on the right side of the Galaxy Note Edge gives the handset it’s unique look and name.

The edge on the right side of the Galaxy Note Edge allows a user to have more functionality. Users can use the edge display as a night clock, news ticker, and more. The edge on the Galaxy Note Edge also changes colors when an individual receives a phone call, message, or notification. The user can make changes to how the edge displays information.

The display and edge isn’t the only impressive experience a user has with the Galaxy Note Edge. Samsung’s S Pen also makes another appearance. The S Pen allows a user to draw and take notes, edit content, and browse the web in a more efficient way. The S Pen is an excellent addition to the Galaxy Note Edge.

Camera quality is pretty good as well on the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. The device features a 16 megapixel rear facing camera. The camera captures great images and videos. Sound might be muffled at times during video recording, but this shouldn’t be that much of a concern. The front facing camera is also useful for selfies and conference calls. Camera quality should not displease users of the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge.

Performance with the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge should satisfy most users. The handset comes with 3GB of RAM which should keep the device running well. A 2.7GHz quad core processor is also on board which keeps everything running at a smooth rate.

The Galaxy Note Edge can be considered a power house. The handset comes with a 3000mAh battery pack that can be removed or replaced. The Galaxy Note Edge also supports expandable storage through a microSD card.

Samsung adds a few additions to the Galaxy Note Edge other than the edge on the right side of the device’s display. A heart rate monitor can be found near the rear camera of the device. A fingerprint scanner is also embedded underneath the home button of the device.

Software on the Galaxy Note Edge is decent. Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface is found running on the device. Android 4.4.4 KitKat was the launch day operating system, but updates are likely to come in the future. Software can slow down a bit overtime which can be a major concern for a high end and expensive smartphone. TouchWiz from Samsung receives different perspectives and views from various individuals. The user must decide whether they would like to deal with Samsung’s TouchWiz interface.

Audio quality might be a small concern for some users. Speakers on the Galaxy Note Edge are located and found on the rear of the handset. The Galaxy Note Edge’s speakers might get covered up by a user’s hand which may impact sound and audio quality.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note Edge is a bit different from the Galaxy Note 4. The Galaxy Note 4 doesn’t feature an edge display on it’s right side while the Galaxy Note Edge does. The Galaxy Note 4 may have a slightly larger display. The Galaxy Note 4 has a slightly larger battery pack than the Galaxy Note Edge. Both devices feature a 16 megapixel rear facing camera, heart rate monitor, fingerprint scanner, Quad-HD display, and Samsung’s TouchWiz interface. Both devices should please their users.

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is an excellent device. Samsung innovated with the Galaxy Note Edge by bringing a curved display to the right side of the Galaxy Note Edge. The Galaxy Note Edge also features high end flagship level specifications which means that this smartphone shouldn’t provide too many issues for it’s users. The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is an excellent device for ti’s multimedia consumption experience, camera, added additions, and the edge display on the right side of the handset.
